How to unlock a lamp holder or socket that has become stuck

Safety regulations for lamp accessories

In the field of lamp accessories, safety is a top priority. It is essential to have systems that protect the user and prevent electrical risks. In this article, we explain how the safety system of lamp holders or sockets works, highlighting their advantages and essential characteristics.

The lamp holders are composed of several key pieces: the cap, the body, and the connection strip. You can see these components in the images we include below.

As you know, the electrical cable enters through the top (cap). Once inside the lamp holder, the electrical connection is made in the connection strip, and finally, the body is screwed onto the cap. When screwing the body, you will reach a point where you will feel more resistance. If you continue, you will hear a "click," indicating that the body is fully assembled.

When the body locks against the cap, the lamp holder is secured, meaning that you cannot unscrew it manually. This is thanks to an internal tab that prevents the body from rotating in reverse, making it impossible to disassemble the lamp holder without releasing the mechanism.

How to disassemble a lamp holder?

If you try to change a lamp socket manually with force, the socket can break and disintegrate into pieces, permanently damaging the product. To avoid this damage, it is crucial not to use force, but the proper technique.

To unlock it, insert a screwdriver into the lamp holder and press the locking tab. At the same time, turn the cap to release the locking system.

Important: This process should always be done with the power turned off and the system disconnected. Also, be patient, as it may be somewhat challenging the first time. Once you have released the cap, you can disassemble the lamp holder and make a new connection safely.
