What do I need to assemble my lamp base?
A lamp base needs weight at the bottom so the lamp stands steady. The counterweights go inside the recess of the base, slid onto a threaded rod and secured with a nut underneath. If you already have the base, we only need the inside diameter of the recess; if not, you choose one of ours. We suggest the largest counterweight that fits, and you can stack up to 3.
What it includes and what each part is for
- Lamp base Your own, giving us the inside diameter of the recess, or one of our bases in iron, metal, marble, wood or brass.
- Counterweight Iron plates that stack inside the recess. We suggest the tightest fit; you can use up to 3.
- Recommended accessories Optional: a bridge to bring the cable out at the side, three M10 threaded rods of 10, 15 and 20 mm, a nut and an extension sleeve to join the base to the lamp tube.
You do not have to work anything out: the configurator counts these parts for what you choose.
How it goes together
- If you already have the base, turn it over and measure the inside diameter of the recess, from wall to wall.
- Thread the counterweights onto the threaded rod and pass it through the hole in the base. Tighten everything from underneath with the nut.
- Inside the base, fit the bridge on the rod and pass the cable through it, so it comes out of the side hole.
- On top, join the base to your lamp tube with the short rod and the extension sleeve.
- Fit the switch and the plug on the cable if it doesn't have them yet.
Make all connections with the lamp unplugged. If you have no experience with electrical work, ask an electrician to do them.
Frequently asked questions
Which counterweight fits my base?
The largest one that goes into the recess. In our bases, at least 14 mm smaller than the diameter of the base; in yours, smaller than the inside diameter you give us. We suggest the tightest fit.
How many counterweights can I use?
They stack on top of each other: up to 3, depending on the depth of the recess.
What are the recommended accessories for?
They hold the counterweights and the base to the lamp tube and bring the cable out at the side. They're optional: if you already have these parts, you don't need to add them.
What if the recess of my base is very small?
Our smallest counterweight is 50 mm. If the recess is under 51 mm, we let you know and you can ask an expert.
