Porcelain switches and sockets

Porcelain switches: the detail that completes a home with character
Porcelain switches and sockets are handcrafted in Spain, like the ones of old but with today's safety. You can mount them on the surface, with the cable showing on the wall, or flush in the usual wall box. The configurator guides you point by point: a point is a single switch or socket, or a frame containing several switches and sockets. When you have finished the points, if the cable shows, you choose the cable and insulators for the whole installation just once.
What it includes and what each part is for
- Surface-mounted switch or socket Goes on its own on the wall, with the cable showing. Some have a wooden base.
- Modular switch or socket Surface-mounted, on a wooden frame with 1 to 4 spaces.
- Flush-mounted switch or socket Goes in the wall box; the cable runs inside.
- Wooden frame In light, dark or raw wood. For flush mounting, round or square.
- Porcelain frame For flush mounting, 1 to 4 switches or sockets. It also fits square boxes.
- Two-way switch Turns a light on from one or two places: one in each place.
- Intermediate switch For the places in between, when the same light is switched from three places or more.
- Double switch Two switches in one, for two lights.
- Socket Socket with earth.
You do not have to work anything out: the configurator counts these parts for what you choose.
How it goes together
- Choose your installation: surface, on a frame or flush-mounted.
- If you flush-mount, look at the wall box: with a square box only square or porcelain frames fit.
- Say how many switches and sockets go together and choose the frame.
- Choose what goes in each space: a two-way switch, an intermediate switch, a double switch or a socket.
- Add the point to the basket and build the next one: it starts with the same kind of installation.
- If the cable shows, at the end choose the cable and insulators for the whole installation.
- With the power off, connect each switch or socket and fix it to the wall or the box.
Always make the connections with the power off. If you have no experience with electrical installations, ask an electrician to do them. The installation is designed for lighting.
Frequently asked questions
What is a point?
A single switch or socket, or a frame with several switches and sockets together. You build one, add it to the basket and go on to the next.
How do I switch a light from two or three places?
From two places, a two-way switch in each place. From three or more, two-way switches at both ends and intermediate switches in the places in between.
Can I mix surface-mounted and flush-mounted ones?
Not on the same frame. Each family has its own frames: the surface-mounted modular ones, their wooden frames; the flush-mounted ones, theirs.
Which frame fits my box?
On a round box every frame fits. On a square box, only the square wooden frames or the porcelain ones.
Can I plug in appliances?
The installation is designed for lighting. To plug in appliances or other devices, use a cable with a larger conductor cross-section (3 × 2.5 mm²).
Are they safe?
Yes. They are handcrafted in Spain and meet the safety regulations and approvals for this kind of material.
