Decorative tube for exposed wiring

Decorative tube: put light where you want it, no building work

Decorative tube is a flexible 20 mm tube covered in fabric. The cables run inside and the tube stays on show, fixed to the wall or ceiling. That way you can add a lamp, a socket or a switch without chasing the wall: ideal for stone or brick walls, wooden ceilings or rented homes.

It leaves the wall box and branches out with junctions to each light, switch or socket.

What it includes and what each part is for

  • Fabric tube Carries the cables inside. Sold by the metre, in several colours.
  • Starter box Covers the wall box the power comes from. The tube starts there.
  • Fittings One on every end of tube that goes into a box, a switch or socket, or a junction.
  • Junctions Split the tube into 3 outlets (T) or 4 (X).
  • M10 adaptor Joins the tube to the lamp: the lampholder or the ceiling rose.
  • Switches and sockets Switches, sockets and connection boxes made for this tube.
  • Clips Hold the tube to the wall or ceiling, one every 75 cm.

You do not have to work anything out: the configurator counts these parts for what you choose.

How it goes together

  1. Switch off the power and mark the route of the tube on the wall.
  2. Fit the starting box over the wall box the power comes from.
  3. Cut the lengths of tube to size and put a fitting on every end that goes into a box, a switch or socket, or a junction.
  4. Fix the tube with the clips, one every 75 cm, then fit the junctions, switches and sockets.
  5. With the tube fixed, pull the cables through it, connect them and fit the lamps with their adaptor.

Always make the connections with the power off. If you have no experience with electrical work, ask an electrician to do them.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any building work?

No. The tube runs on the surface of the wall or ceiling, held by clips. You only need a wall box the power comes from.

What is the maximum length?

Each continuous run is 25 m at most; to go further, connect it to a box, switch or socket. The configurator goes up to 50 m in total.

Can I fit a two-way switch?

There is no two-way switch for this tube: only a single or double switch.

How many clips do I need?

We suggest one every 75 cm, at least 5, and you can change the number. There is a grey clip and a metal clip in white, black and grey.

What if my wiring is more complicated?

With more than 6 lights or more than 4 junctions, press “Questions? An expert checks your lamp” and we will tell you what you need.
