Pendant light with exposed bulb, part by part
This is the simplest pendant light: a ceiling rose, a decorative fabric cable and a lampholder with the bulb on show. You choose the colour and finish of each part, and we check that they all fit together. It looks good on its own over a table or in a group at different heights.
What it includes and what each part is for
- Ceiling rose Fixed to the ceiling, it hides the connections. It has a 10 mm hole for the cord grip.
- Cord grips They hold the cable: one in the ceiling rose and one in the lampholder. If yours needs a nut or a threaded rod, we add it.
- Fabric cable Sold by the metre, up to 7 mm thick. We suggest 2 m and you can change it.
- Lampholder With an M10 threaded entry. The bulb screws into it.
- Bulb With a cap that matches the lampholder (E27, E14…). If you already have one, choose «I already have a bulb».
You do not have to work anything out: the configurator counts these parts for what you choose.
How it goes together
- Decide how high you want the bulb and measure from the ceiling; leave a little extra cable for the connections.
- Thread the cable through the ceiling rose and the top cord grip, then fix the cord grip to the ceiling rose.
- At the other end, thread the cable through the lampholder cord grip, connect both wires to the lampholder and screw the cord grip in.
- With the power off, connect the cable to the ceiling wires and fix the ceiling rose.
- Screw in the bulb and turn the power back on.
Always make the connections with the power off. If you have no experience with electrical work, ask an electrician to do them.
Frequently asked questions
How much cable do I need?
We suggest 2 m. Measure from the ceiling to where you want the bulb and add a little for the connections; you can change the metres in the cable step.
What is a cord grip?
It is the threaded part that holds the cable and joins it to the ceiling rose and the lampholder. Depending on the model and where it goes, it may need a nut or a threaded rod: we add whatever is needed to the cart. If the ceiling rose or the lampholder already includes one, you do not need another.
Will any cable do?
Almost all the fabric cables in the shop, up to 7 mm thick. Thicker ones do not fit the cord grip, so we do not show them.
Can I add a shade?
Yes, with the pendant light with shade: you start with the shade and we only show the parts that hold it.
