Pendant light with shade: choose the shade first

First you choose the shade, in metal, ceramic or fabric, and then we only show the parts that hold it properly: the ceiling rose, the cord grips, the cable, the lampholder and the bulb. You do not have to check hole sizes or threads: the configurator does it for you.

The shade hangs from the cable, held by the lampholder or by the cord grip, depending on its hole.

What it includes and what each part is for

  • Shade Metal, ceramic or fabric. Its opening determines how it is attached.
  • Ceiling rose Fixed to the ceiling, it hides the connections.
  • Cord grips They join the cable to the ceiling rose and the lampholder. With metal or ceramic shades, always metal ones.
  • Fabric cable Sold by the metre. We suggest 2 m and you can change it.
  • Lampholder For an E27 or E14 hole, a lampholder with rings that clamp the shade. For a 10 mm hole, the cord grip holds it.
  • Bulb With a cap that matches the lampholder. With a fabric shade, LED only.

You do not have to work anything out: the configurator counts these parts for what you choose.

How it goes together

  1. Decide how high you want the shade and measure from the ceiling; leave a little extra cable for the connections.
  2. Thread the cable through the ceiling rose and the top cord grip, then fix the cord grip to the ceiling rose.
  3. Thread the cable through the shade and the lower cord grip, connect both wires to the lampholder and assemble it.
  4. Fix the shade: with the lampholder rings or, if its hole is 10 mm, with the cord grip.
  5. With the power off, connect the cable to the ceiling wires, fix the ceiling rose and screw in the bulb.

Always make the connections with the power off. If you have no experience with electrical work, ask an electrician to do them.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I start with the shade?

Because it is the most visible part and everything else depends on it: the opening in the shade determines the lampholder, and its material determines the cord grips and the bulb.

How is the shade held?

If its hole is E27 or E14, with a shade lampholder that clamps it with its rings. If it is 10 mm, the cord grip holds it with no other part.

Why only LED bulbs with a fabric shade?

Because they run much cooler and the fabric stays protected. That is why, with a fabric shade, we only show LED bulbs.

Why metal cord grips?

Metal and ceramic shades are heavier, and metal cord grips hold them better.
